Get Involved.

Once you've explored West Park for yourself, maybe you'd like to come along to an event and share your experience with others?

You can learn more by clicking on the Events link, on the left of this page.

Or if you're a resident of West Park Village, and you'd like to be more involved in the running of the park, then you might be interested in the Friends' Group.

The Friends' Group was established by residents as a way of discussing important issues relating to West Park. This includes discussing the levy, events held on the park, new projects and the running of the park.

The properties on the wider West Park Village development, which surrounds West Park Nature Reserve, all pay a levy which funds various improvements. For households, the levy is collected once per year by a legal agreement written into the deeds of all the residential and commercial properties.

This money is only used for enhancements, not for ongoing maintenance, so it really makes a big difference. For example, the Play Park was partly funded by the levy.

A letter is sent to all levy payers in January of each year, inviting people to become involved in the park and the Friends' Group. A copy of the letter is available here.

Would you like to have a say in what the levy is used for? Are you keen to make a difference to where you live?

If so, then why not come along to a Friends of West Park meeting? Meetings take place four times a year, and only last for a couple of hours. No commitment is needed, but if you attend a meeting you can help to decide what happens on the West Park Nature Reserve.

Meetings take place at 6pm, and are scheduled for:

Thursday 20th April 2017 - wooden classroom at West Park Academy (Alderman Leach school).

Steering committee

The Friends' Group nominates representatives to attend a steering committee.

This committee has legal responsibility for decisions on spending the levy, within the rules that were written into levy collection when the West Park Village was first designed.
