Tree house, rope bridge

Play Park.

In keeping with the natural surroundings, this is a play park made with natural materials.

Choose between the sand pit, slide, boulders, tunnel, and tree house accessed by a rope bridge.

Who'll be the king of the castle?

This is the largest natural play park in Darlington. It's even been nominated for a local award for good design, and for making a difference to the local environment.

The idea is that the play equipment is built into the landscape, and encourages children to use their imagination to create their own games.

The play park was officially opened on 16th November 2010 by the mayor, after being designed in consultation with local residents.

It was designed to appeal primarily to 6 - 10 year olds, but has proven to be very popular with all ages - from toddlers (with the help of parents or grandparents!) to teenagers.

Funding was secured through the government's Playbuilders Scheme, with additional funding from the West Park levy. This ample funding has produced a play park to last for many years to come.
